  • Veterans of Foreign Wars - Voice of Democracy (Essay & Local) All 9th - 12th graders may apply! Write an essay and record your voice reading your 3-5 minute long recording on a CD or cassette on the topic "Is our Constitution still relevant?" Points are awarded for originality, content and delivery. Award: prizes and scholarships are awarded at the local, district, state and national levels $100 to $30,000. Due:  Must deliver or mail your recording, to be received by the Sandy, OR Veterans of Foreign Wars office.  


  • Prudential Spirit of Community Service Awards (Merit/Community Service/$ Need) Grades 5 to 12 may applyYou must have volunteered for something significant in the last year; the merit of your volunteer service is stressed. Online application. Awards: multiple from $1,000 (two per state) to $5,000 (national). Each award winner receives a trip for you and a parent to Washington, D. C. 


  • Anne Ford Scholarship (Disabilities) Demonstrate and document a current learning disability (AD/HD alone is not considered a learning disability for the purpose of this scholarship). Must commit to pursue a four-year college degree, minimum 3.0 GPA, financial need is emphasized. Award: $2,500/yr for four years. 


  • Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship (Disabilities) Demonstrate and document a current learning disability (AD/HD alone is not considered a learning disability for the purpose of this scholarship). Must commit to pursue a two-year community college, a vocational college or a technical training program, financial need is emphasized.  Award: $2,500


  • James Alan Cox Foundation (Photography/Photojournalism) Grades 10, 11, and 12 may apply Students must have taken at least one photography or related art class in high school. High school students will submit 5 still photos along with all the required application. 5 high school students will be awarded digital cameras to assist them in pursuing a future in photography.   • Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship (Merit/Community Service/$ Need) Must have taken ACT or SAT by late October/early November test date; community service, honors, awards, leadership, extra-curricular activities are emphasized; financial need; 500 word essay. Click on the scholarship title to visit the website to register to apply for this scholarship, then print out the application. When complete, mail to your closest local Elks Lodge (use the search function on the website to locate). Award: $4,000 to $50,000 (used over 4 years; many levels of awards, locally and nationally).
